This place is BUSY! You order at the counter the woman that took my order was friendly & even recommended what I should order. Once I sat down a young man brought me like 5 different salsas for my tacos and told me the spice level of all of them. I thought the horchata was a bit too sweet, but that's just me. Tacos were delicious I will be back!
The staff who took my order were very helpful and personable. They had great recommendations. The hot sauces were so freaking delicious. It was a very random location but the food was exceptional. Food came out so quickly and was piping hot. Definitely recommend.
Biggie smalls once said "oh my god I'm dropping sh*t like a pigeon, I hope you're listen', smackin babies at their christenin". Please listen to me when I say this is the best Mexican food I have had in a very long time. The queso? Fantastic. Sauces? Amazing. Quesadilla? Sensational. The cheese to meat to onion ratio was perfect. I threw it down my gullet at a concerning rate. I walked into Doña Lena a boy and left a man. Two bites into the quesadilla I began to wonder if I was cheating on my girlfriend. Do I make love to her like I am this quesadilla? The answer is likely no. She just simply can't match this flavor profile. This is my new favorite spot. Cool decorations and colors inside too. Doña Lena, if you're reading this, I love you.
Awesome tacos! The ambiance is amazing! And the people all smiling! I can't wait to be there again! Basically, food, service and the ambiance is beyond good!
This restaurant offers an authentic Mexican dining experience. Their sopes, tortas, and birria tacos are exceptional. I ordered the birria gorditas, which were both crunchy and moist. They also have an impressive variety of salsas and sauces, adding just the right amount of spice. Having tried many birria dishes, I can confidently place this one in my top five. The sopes my friends ordered looked fantastic as well. The place fills up quickly, and the vibrant ambiance is inviting. I'll definitely be back for more. Ambiance: 9/10 reminds me of little Mexico Food: 10/10 big portions Service: 10/10 friendly staff!
After frolicking in Ikea with my friends, we had to make a visit to Tacos Doña Lena because it was so good last time the last time I visited! Food (5/5): - QuesaBirria: This was the second time I ordered the QuesaBirria because it left such a lasting impression on me from the last time. The texture had the perfect crunch, portions were good, and it paired well with the birria soup. The addition of limes & cilantro was the cherry on top! While I will try other dishes, the Quesabirria would definitely my go-to order. - Sope (with beef): This was my first time trying Sope & I didn't know what to expect, but it was certainly love at first bite. Once again, the texture was appropriately crispy & I felt like the addition of veggies on top helped cut out some of the greasiness. The addition of chili sauce made it taste even better! Service (5/5): Workers were nice & made sure to check up on my friends & I while we were eating. They were very efficient despite all the customers, and they even line up the salsas from mildest to hottest which I thought was fun. Ambiance (5/5): Well decorated, I liked how there was a to-go box station in the back. The environment was very lively! While the seating felt a little tight, it's likely because of all the customers they're able to reel in, but there is outdoor seating too. Final Verdict: I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Mexican food at a reasonable price! I look forward to trying other things on the menu.
I went here for lunch with the family. We ordered a few things, but I got the Birria Platter to share and a mango agua fresca. The Birria Platter was pretty huge and included a little bit of everything from their Birria menu, which was great for trying different items. It also came with two sides of rice and two sides of consomé. The taco was great and packed with meat. The taco itself had a nice crunch from the flat grill. The mango agua fresca was on the sweeter side, but overall, it was pretty decent. The restaurant is kind of small, so be prepared to sit close to other tables. You order up front, and they give you a number; they bring the food to you. There are some tables outside in front of the restaurant, but it was quite hot that day, so I decided to stay inside.
I ordered catering for a party and everyone complimented these Tacos. So I am reviewing on behalf of 60 People. Even after cold the tortilla was still good to eat it did not had that hard texture like elsewhere if not warm. The decoration is cute small and very Mexican. Service was perfect everyone was helpful and nice. They had my order correct and before time! Will cater again!
When I came across this place on Instagram, I couldn't wait to give it a try. It's a small mom and pop taco restaurant, cutely decorated with vivid colors, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. After ordering at the counter, our food came within 15 minutes. The waiter brought a pail of 6 salsas and laid them out by spice level on our table. Majority of the salsas were bursting with flavor so I was mixing them up whilst eating my tacos. I ordered the barbacoa and beef tacos on corn tortillas. I also ordered the quesabirria tacos, which to my surprise were HUGE! (I did eat all 5 of my tacos- oops). The only downside was that the heat of the food combined with the heat of the restaurant was not the best combo as we were uncomfortably sweating throughout our meal.
Why 5 stars? Because the birria tacos were about as good as it gets. --- --- --- There was once a food truck that is now defunct that had the best birria tacos I've ever had. I recently wrote about another truck that was probably just one tier down from that spot, and I think Tacos Dona Lena is in that similar vein. Very good, but not the best ever. I've had this place bookmarked for probably two years and finally had the opportunity to visit. I wanted to try about 10 different things, but figured I would just go with typical quesabirria. I also ordered a side of rice and beans and really enjoyed those, as the beans had a great smokey flavor. I washed it all down with some decent mango drink. Did all of this collectively give me some pretty epic indigestion later that night? Yep. But that's the price you pay for tastiness.
